Omigawa River

Home of precious fish species

Known by academics as species highly sensitive to water quality and temperature, "Ibaratomiyo" fish live only in very fresh and clean water areas. Omigawa River is one of few rivers where the precious kind of fish inhabits.
The original water source for Omigawa River is "Jizo-numa" spring, which generates ample volume of fresh spring water that flows into the river.
The entire region is a home of a number of natural springs, and each of them is locally called "Donko-sui" or Donko water.
For the purpose of nature conservation, a number of measures are taken such as making ditch to prevent non-natural water from flowing in.
