Chikara Mizu
(Power Water)

Spring water said to strengthen people

Region of Yuzawa has prospered as a "castle town" surrounding Yuzawa Castle. Sake and pickled vegetables are acknowledged local specialities, qualities of which heavily rely on the spring waters in town.
Place where Yuzawa Castle stood is now a park, just by edge of which locates Chikara Mizu. It is unknown how and who named this spring water source Chikara Mizu, or Power Water, but people naturally started to believe that the water was a great source of empowering those who took it to their mouths. With its water temperature is kept stably at around 12c, the spot is where local people gather daily to take their small shares for making teas and cooking.
The water source is constantly under careful maintenance by local residents, and the spirit of nature preservation has been carrying on for generations.
