Scar-healing water, gushes only at Orihashi Ryokan

Orihashi Ryokan has the longest tradition in well-known hot spring spa village of Myoken Onsen. This time Takuya Horiuchi at Global Waters K.K. visited the Ryokan and experienced its special spring.

The hot spring water gushing at Orihashi Ryokan cottage has been highly regarded by locals for its healing effects against skin deceases, cuts, atopic dermatitis, cosmetics-damaged skins, and insect bites. The water is categorised as weakly alkali with notable contents of sodium, chloride, and bicarbonates among other minerals.
It also contains over 170mg/kg of metasilicate, which is known for skin-moisturising.
So, day by day a number of visitors from all over Japan gather at Orihashi to restore or improve their skin conditions by weekly stay at Orihashi Ryokan.

Each bath at 5 springs located inside Orihashi Ryokan is structured as "Gensen Kakenagashi" or direct flow without circulation, a form that minimises loss of natural healing power within lively fresh hot spring.
Most remarkable among the 5 sources is "Kizu-yu" or Scar water, a special type that only gushes at Orihashi in Myoken Onsen spa resort.
Kizu-yu has a uniquely balanced contents composition, namely potassium, calcium, magnesium, bicarbonate, and the water is granted with best score of 5 points by Japan Hot Spa Association.
Attractiveness of Orihashi's hot spring water is distinctively notable among excellent sources in Myoken Spa.

The landlady* of Orihashi Ryokan told us that contents of the water work aggregately helping vitalise body metabolism. Therefore, the water helps peeling off old layer of skins and in effect the skin is rejuvenated. While listening we could not help staring at her facial skin being of course aware of impoliteness doing it, simply because of its distinctly smooth-looking white skin. We were double shocked when she answered to our rude questions of her age. It could be gene itself, but we can not rule out the positive effect of the spring and foods that derived from the water to the youth of her skin. In conjunction with many guests for skin care purpose, the hot spring water at Orihashi should be phrased as the hot water of rejuvenation.
